Picardie Youth Regional Council is searching European equivalent structures. The Youth Council plans to organise a conference on dialogue between political members and young people. The idea is to involve other European regions in order to exchange on each other experiences and practices. The conference aims at discussing dialogue modalities (which are put into practise or could be imagined) between young people (elected members or citizens) and political members. The 2008 theme of intercultural dialogue will be developed from the concept of young people participation to the political decision.
The conference will be organised at the moment of the French EU presidency under action 5 of the European programme YOUTH IN ACTION. It could be held in October 2008.
The project is prepared by Picardie Youth regional council and has to be more detailed, according to the partnership. If you wish to discuss with us about the project, mark your interest or just have some more information about it, do not hesitate to contact:
This Conference could have some further developments according to the partners.
Some more information about Picardie youth regional council: http://www.jeunes.picardie.fr/spip.php?article609 (in French). Here is a short presentation:
Picardie youth regional council aims at involving young people aged 16 to 25 in civil life. In December 2006 a new Assembly was elected for 3 years. It is composed of 80 members (40 girls / 40 guys)
They are 80 : they are studying (highschool, traineeship, University), working or looking for a job. They live, work or study in Picardie.
They have to imagine and realise some projects which will benefit all young people in Picardie. They also represent youth in the Regional Council.
Picardie regional council President asks the youth assembly to give an advice on all strategic documents (transport, housing, job, education, environnement…). The youth Assembly can also decide itself to work on any field of regional competences.
This election is the opportunity to experience citizenship in a very concrete way. For the Regional council, this Assembly is a way to better know needs and expectations of young people.
The young elected members have to choose the thematic commission they want to join. They all meet 3 times per year but each Commission organises its timetable as it wants.
Picardie Youth Regional Council was created in 1989.
